Can I point out how incredibly heart breaking his expression is. You can see the initial disbelief in his expression, but then he starts to shrug off everything Stefan’s trying to explain because he doesn’t want to hear it..he can’t bear to hear that the girl he loves is sired to him because up until this time they’ve made the sire bond sound so submissive (of course, that’s not true in their case but it’s a pre conceived notion they have). And towards the end when Stefan asks him to just try it out, he can tell from his brother’s face that Stefan might be right and his voice is choked and shaking because there is a huge chance he might be right.


Because their might be a chance that Elena is sired to him and he doesn’t want to believe it. He doesn’t want to believe that maybe the best night of his life and the girl he so inexplicably loves, loving him back might just be an outcome of a sire bond between them.

Because he’s scared to find out that nobody can truly find him good enough without any outside influence and their own free will.

Wouldn’t it be adorable if when everyone goes their own ways at the end of the episode freddie realizes he never really said goodbye to sam and runs to catch up with her and he says ‘wait’ all dramatically and then they have one final goodbye kiss and freddie says ‘one last kiss?’ and then sam smiles and says ‘just to get it over with’
